What is Jikiden Reiki?
Reiki is an energetic healing technique that uses the energy from the Universe to aid in the body and mind’s natural ability to heal and release toxins. Someone who has learned Reiki is able to channel this energy through their hands to the person they are working on. Reiki can be used to relieve the effects of disease, illness, physical discomfort and pain, and for healthy people to maintain good health. Those who receive Reiki often report feeling a deep sense of relaxation, serenity and peace during and after treatments.
What does Jikiden mean?
Jikiden means “directly taught”, meaning that this lineage of Reiki is taught as close as possible to the original teachings that were discovered by Mikao Usui in the early 1920’s. This means that these teachings are steeped in traditional Japanese culture and have no outside Western influences. The founder, Mikao Usui taught Dr. Chijiro Hayashi, who taught Chiyoko Yamaguchi, who taught my teacher Tadao Yamaguchi, and it is with great honor that I pass on these teachings to you.
What to expect from the Level 1 Jikiden Reiki class?

Several years ago I was in intensive therapy with an amazing therapist. At one point she thought I could really benefit from learning Jikiden Reiki. She said it wasn’t just a new agey thing, it was a healing method that really worked. Very reluctantly, I decided to try it, which was not an easy thing to do for my analytical mind! I had my first session in 2016 with Kausalya in Mckinleyville and shortly after took my first class with her. Jikiden Reiki helped me to heal so much and the principles I learned there became a way of life for me. Later that year, I decided that I wanted to continue learning and attended one of many seminars with Tadao Yamaguchi, our lineage holder. It has been such an honor to share these teachings over the last few years, and I hope to share them with you soon!
I have been a massage therapist for over 10 years with much of my education in different pain relief techniques including Ashiatsu, cupping, trigger point, positional release, and myofascial release. This year I will begin studying Somatic Experiencing in Southern California, over the next three years I will be learning and integrating this body centered therapy that helps release trauma in the body and mind.
